The Department of Health (DOH) gave an update on the total number of COVID-19 cases in the Philippines as of today, July 17, 2020.
According to DOH’s COVID-19 Case Bulletin #125 dated July 17, 2020, the Department of Health reported 1,841 new COVID-19 cases wherein 710 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 1,131 were identified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 63,001.
The Department of Health, the newly-confirmed cases on Friday were reported based on the total tests done by 76 out of 84 current operational laboratories.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 311 new recoveries and 17 additional fatalities. This brought the total number of recoveries to 21,748 and total coronavirus deaths to 1,660.
Moreover, the Department of Health reported 39,593 total active cases as stated in its COVID-19 Case Bulletin #125 dated July 17, 2020.
The Department of Health identified the top five areas with the highest number of coronavirus cases as of July 17 only: Manila with 441 new cases, Quezon City with 140 new cases, Mandaluyong with 96 new cases, Cebu City with 87 new cases, and Navotas with 86 new cases.
