Coronavirus Cases In The Philippines Now Over 50,000, Says DOH

Coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 50,000, according to DOH.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Wednesday reported that the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 50,000.

This, as the Department of Health reported 2,539 new coronavirus cases wherein 1,922 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 617 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 50,359 as of 9:00 p.m. of today, July 8, 2020.

For “fresh” cases, 883 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 369 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 670 came from different areas in the Philippines.

For the “late” cases, 183 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 74 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 360 were from different areas in the Philippines.

According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Wednesday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 202 additional recoveries and five new coronavirus deaths. This brought the total number of recoveries to 12,588 and total fatalities to 1,314.

Moreover, the Department of Health reported 36,457 total active cases as of 9:00 p.m. of July 8, 2020.
