Apple officially announced its latest updates across Apple products during this year’s WWDC 2020.
Apple on Monday (US time) officially kicked off its completely-virtual WWDC 2020 event as the company officially announced its latest updates.
Despite the rapid increase of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the United States, Apple still pushed through with its annual event virtually.
Here are some of the latest updates that Apple has just announced during its virtual event:
iOS 14
First, Apple just launched iOS 14 with new features and latest enhancements. iOS 14 includes new App Library, picture in picture support on iPhones, a new interface of Siri, new Translate app on iPhones, updated Messages feature, new Memoji accessories, and new features of Apple Maps.
Also included in iOS 14 were CarPlay, CarKey, and App Clip.
iPadOS 14
Apple officially launched iPadOS 14 with new features and latest enhancements. iPadOS 14 includes additional support for home screen widgets and other features from iOS 14, redesigned Music app, and new incoming call notification.
Also included in iPadOS 14 were enhancements on Apple Pencil as well as additional features for AirPods.
watchOS 7
New features and enhancements were added to Apple’s watchOS 7 including the face sharing, additional support for new types of complications, improvements in Apple Maps and Workouts app, improved calorie tracking, and redesigned Activity app.
Also included in watchOS were new sleep tracking features, new Wind Down feature, and Sleep Mode on Apple Watch, and new handwashing features.
Privacy Features
Aside from launching iOS 14, iPadOS 14, and watchOS 7, Apple also announced its latest privacy improvements which include data minimization, on-device intelligence, security protections, and transparency and control.
Also in its latest privacy improvements were location data, recording indicator, tracking control, and app privacy. Moreover, Apple launched its new Home app and HomeKit features.
tvOS 14
Apple also launched its latest enhancements on its tvOS including its new picture in picture features as well as improvements to gaming with its multi-user support.
macOS Big Sur
Apple officially launched new operating system for Mac users, the macOS Big Sur, which was the highlights of its virtual event.
A lot of new features, as well as major enhancements, were launched including visual changes and design, new colors, iPad-style interface, dark mode, and improvements in Safari. Moreover, Apple introduced its own custom silicon, the Apple Silicon, which will be used for upcoming Macs.
And yes, macOS Big Sur was also named as macOS 11 and not macOS 10.16.
