Back in the days when Friendster was one of the first social networking sites and was used by Filipinos before Facebook exists. However, Friendster was acquired by MOL Global for USD 26.4 million way back in 2009 and transformed into a gaming site.
While a lot of Filipinos were hoping for Friendster’s comeback, a Pinoy designer decided to make his reimagined Friendster interface with custom themes, autoplay music, profile views counter, and a lot more.
According to Lawrence Suzara, he got to spend most of his time with Facebook during the quarantine period and he noticed that the user interface of Facebook was clean, he still found it “boring”, adding that his news feed had became “toxic” lately. Lawrence then admitted that Friendster had a “special place” in his heart, and that’s why he made his own reimagined user interface of Friendster.
He admitted that it was “fun” to use Friendster as users opted to focus on making their profile pages “beautiful”, collect testimonials from “real friends”, and picking the “perfect music” to autoplay that would describe the users’ personality.
