Philippines Reports 714 New COVID-19 Cases, Total Cases Now 21,340

The Philippines reported 714 new cases of coronavirus disease, according to DOH.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday announced that the Philippines reported 714 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.

This, as 350 out of 714 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 364 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 21,340 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 6, 2020.

For “fresh” cases, 104 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 171 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 75 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 140 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila and the remaining 224 were from different areas in the Philippines.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 111 additional recoveries and seven new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 4,441 and total fatalities to 994.

Aside from the total number of recoveries and fatalities, the Department of Health also reported 15,309 total active cases as of June 5, 2020, wherein 793 patients were asymptomatic, 14,439 patients were in mild condition, 58 patients were in severe condition, and 19 patients were in critical condition.

According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Saturday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
