DOH reported 579 additional cases of coronavirus disease.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Monday reported 579 new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) in the Philippines.
This, as 331 out of 579 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 248 were classified as “late” cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 22,474 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 8, 2020.
For “fresh” cases, 114 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 156 were from Central Visayas, one repatriate, and the remaining 60 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 106 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, five were from Central Visayas, 31 repatriates, and the remaining 106 were from different areas in the Philippines.
Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 107 additional recoveries and eight new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 4,637 and total fatalities to 1,011.
According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Monday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
Aside from the total number of recoveries and fatalities, the Department of Health also reported 16,362 total active cases as of June 7, 2020, wherein 660 patients were asymptomatic, 15,627 patients were in mild condition, 56 patients were in severe condition, and 19 patients were in critical condition.
