Coronavirus Cases In The Philippines Now Over 20,600 — DOH

Coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 20,600, according to DOH.

The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday announced that the total number of coronavirus cases in the Philippines already reached over 20,600.

This, as the Department of Health reported 244 new COVID-19 cases wherein 168 were classified as “fresh” cases and the remaining 76 were classified as “late” cases. This brought the total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus disease to 20,626 as of 4:00 p.m. of June 5, 2020.

Aside from the number of confirmed cases, the Department of Health also reported 82 additional recoveries and three new fatalities due to COVID-19. This brought the total number of recoveries to 4,330 and total fatalities to 987.

For “fresh” cases, 24 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 127 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 17 came from different areas in the Philippines. On the other hand, for the “late” cases, 24 COVID-19 patients were from Metro Manila, 11 were from Central Visayas, and the remaining 41 were from different areas in the Philippines.

According to the Department of Health, the fresh cases recorded on Friday were based on its test results released to patients within the last three days, while the late cases recorded were based on the test results released to patients four days ago or more.
