Apple To Looters: ‘Local Authorities Will Be Alerted’

Apple warned potential looters that there’s a “sting in the tail” for those who attempted to get a boxed iPhones illegally from one of its retail stores.

This, after several looters destroyed Apple’s retail store in Portland and stole Apple products inside.

One of the looters posted a photo on Twitter. Based on the said photo, it showed a message as he opened his phone saying “Please return to Apple Walnut Street” (the retail store location where he got the said phone illegally.

This device has been disabled and is being tracked“, the message continued. “Local authorities will be alerted.” With this message, looters may opt to return stolen iPhones to Apple retail stores where the said phone was stolen.

The said looting happened as protests across the United States continued, seeking equality and justice following George Floyd’s death while in police custody last May 25.

Following the looting incident on Louis Vuitton’s retail store, Apple decided to take action in order to protect its staff as well as to secure its products by way of removing its stock from shop floors and shutter locations as well as adding a tracking alert to its iPhones.
