397 local officials will be facing charges over anomalies on cash assistance, according to DILG.
The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) said that 397 barangay and local government officials were facing criminal charges for anomalies in the distribution of cash assistance.
Aside from 397 local executives who were facing criminal charges, a total of 663 people had been subjected to investigation by the police — including 267 elected barangay and local government executives.
Eduardo M. Año, the Secretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), said in a statement that 396 out of 663 people — employees from the government sector or “civilian accomplices of those elected local officials” — had also been subjected to investigation by the police.

Año also said that more cases were expected to be filled against corrupt local officials in the next few days as the Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) was currently conducting a case build-up and investigation on 67 cases, adding that there’s more to come.
Meanwhile, DILG Undersecretary Jonathan Malaya said in a public hearing that the department had been responding on complaints with regards to the distribution if DSWD’s Social Amelioration Program (SAP) cash assistance.
