OPPO Files Patent For Phone Case With Built-in QWERTY Keyboard

OPPO filed a design patent for its upcoming phone case with a built-in QWERTY keyboard.

OPPO filed a patent for its upcoming phone case that has a built-in QWERTY keyboard on the side. This patent was listed in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

This patent was also filed by Guangdong Oppo Mobile Telecommunications at China’s National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA). The said patent was filed last November 2018 and published last April 2020.

Based on the photo above, OPPO’s phone case may have a common design compared to other phone cases available in the market, however, this phone case might be different as it has a physical keyboard that was embedded in a phone case. With this, OPPO users may have a comfy experience in terms of typing texts on a smartphone without touching the display.

Although the design patent alone didn’t reveal the full functionality of this phone case, OPPO will unveil it soon.

Previously, OPPO file a smartphone trademark for its upcoming product line, the Reno Glow, which was already filed at the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

Aside from OPPO, other tech companies also filed a patent for its upcoming devices. Samsung filed a patent for its upcoming tablet with a built-in stand; Lenovo filed a smartphone patent with reverse notch display, Huawei filed patents for a possible Mate devices; and Xiaomi filed a design patent for its upcoming smartphone with “twisting” camera.
