Navotas City Government Placed Ten Barangays Under The Enhanced Community Quarantine.
The city government of Navotas placed 10 barangays under the enhanced community quarantine in order to control the spread of COVID-19.
Effective May 23 at 5:01 a.m., Toby Tiangco, the city mayor of Navotas, announced the list of barangays that have been placed under the ECQ. The enhanced community quarantine imposed in these barangays will be in effect until May 31 at 11:59 p.m.
Here are the barangays under ECQ, according to Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco:
- Daanghari
- NBBN
- NBBS Dagat-dagatan
- NBBS Kanluran
- NBBS Proper
- San Jose
- San Roque
- Sipac Almacen
- Tangos North
- Tangos South
The announcement came as NCR’s Regional Inter-agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Disease issued Resolution No. 3 Series of 2020 dated May 20, 2020, approving the recommendation of Navotas City in placing barangays under the enhanced community quarantine due to an increasing number of confirmed cases of COVID-19, as such, Navotas City Mayor Toby Tiangco issued Executive Order No. TMT-30 Series of 2020 dated May 21, 2020.
According to Mayor Toby Tiangco, Navotas City reported a total of 138 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19. With this, Mayor Tiangco advised residents to follow the guidelines set bt the city government of Navotas, such as wearing face masks and observing physical distancing.
As of 4:00 p.m. of May 22, the Department of Health reported 163 new cases of coronavirus disease, 92 new recoveries, and 11 new fatalities. This brought the total number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the Philippines to 13,597, with 3,092 total recoveries and 857 total fatalities.

Were the increase of the covid-19 cases, brought in from outside these communities? Or were they locally transmitted there but only now found out? The recent return of a significant number of OFW’s of which there was a reported 465 of confirmed COVID-19 cases, was this a factor too?
