Barangay In Iloilo City Was Placed Under 3-Day Extreme ECQ
A barangay in Iloilo City was placed under the extreme enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in order to contain the spread of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
This, as the three-day extreme enhanced community quarantine in Barangay Santo Niño Sur in Arevalo district at 12:01 a.m. of May 6 and will end at 11:59 p.m. of May 9.
The announcement on placing under the extreme enhanced community quarantine came as Barangay Santo Niño Sur reported five new cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19. Moreover, the City of Iloilo would conduct mass testing in the said area.
As per the report, residents who had in contact with infected patients underwent Polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests on the first day of a three-day extreme ECQ, while other residents in the said area underwent rapid tests.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas said that it would take three days before releasing the PCR test results, adding that the city government will provide necessities — including medicine, food, and water — to 2,000 households in Barangay Santo Niño Sur.
As of 4:00 p.m. of May 6, Iloilo City has reported a total of 15 confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, including four total recoveries and one fatality. Nationally, the Philippines reported a total of 10,004 COVID-19 cases, with 1,506 total recoveries and 658 total fatalities.
