YouTube officially confirmed that the platform will remove conspiracy videos that were falsely linking 5G technology to COVID-19.
This, as 9to5Google reported that YouTube will start putting an end to “dangerous spread of misinformation” on its platform, as such, those YouTube accounts with this type of content will lose its monetization option.
Based on a report from the Guardian, YouTube would allow other “borderline content” that didn’t mention COVID-19 or coronavirus disease. YouTube said in a statement to the Guardian that the company had “clear policies” that banning videos that promote “medically unsubstantiated methods” in order not to misinform its users.
With this move, YouTube will guarantee its users that the correct and factual information will only be available on its platform to the general public.
