Malacañang on Monday said that the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operations (POGOs) will remain close during quarantine due to coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19.
This, after Vice President Leni Robredo questioned about the call to reopen offshore gaming operations before while most of Filipino business remain shut during the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque, the POGOs under the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) guidelines will remain closed. However, if the government decided to reopen offshore gaming operations in the Philippines, according to Roque, it would be “because of the need for funds”.
As per the report, Roque also said that the Filipinos still need assistance, adding that even the President can’t produce money in an instant.
