Merchants can avail the Google Shopping for free
Google Shopping – The popular search engine company is set to offer its online shopping service for free for merchants.
This aspect of the company targets to compete against Amazon in e-commerce and digital ads, based on the report from ABS-CBN News. Previously, it only features retailers whose products are being promoted with equal payment.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and following the lockdown, more and more people tend to go online shopping as many physical stores were opted to close.
By the end of April, merchants in the United States of America are expected to avail of this free service.
Aside from merchants, the company is also aiming to offer the same kind of service to sellers before 2020 ends, as what commerce unit president Bill Ready stated.
“As consumers increasingly shop online, they’re searching not just for essentials but also things like toys, apparel, and home goods. While this presents an opportunity for struggling businesses to reconnect with consumers, many cannot afford to do so at scale,” he added.
Next week, it is expected that searches results in the Google Shopping tab will be free listings mostly. The company will also display ads on result pages.
Ready said that “for advertisers, this means paid campaigns can now be augmented with free listings.” Google will be working with PayPal so that merchants can use the financial transaction service for their sales on the online shopping service, based on the report.
“Solutions during this crisis will not be fast or easy, but we hope to provide a measure of relief for businesses and lay the groundwork for a healthier retail ecosystem in the future,” the commerce unit president stated.
