DOH Gives Update on Philippines Confirmed Coronavirus Cases
PHILIPPINES CONFIRMED CORONAVIRUS CASES – The Department of Health (DOH) announced an additional on the cases of COVID-19 in the country.
Last week, the Filipinos were once again alarmed by the new cases of coronavirus in the country. Two (2) Pinoys tested positive for the disease officially called as COVID-19.
The new coronavirus or COVID-19 was first recorded in China where it infected over 70,000 people. Now, several countries across the globe are on a tough fight against the said disease.
Previously, there were three (3) coronavirus cases confirmed in the Philippines. All were Chinese nationals with one being the first death case recorded outside China.
The Philippines confirmed coronavirus cases rose to six (6) last Saturday after the wife of the 5th patient of the disease also tested positive. The 5th patient, a 62-year-old man, was confirmed to be a case of local transmission.
Recently, DOH gave an update on the coronavirus cases in the country. There are now ten (10) confirmed cases after four (4) men tested positive for the disease.
Based on a report on CNN, all the new coronavirus patients are in private hospitals now. The health department did not reveal the hospitals where they’re confined but gave some details on the patients:
- a Taiwanese man aging 38 years old with no travel history abroad but is said to have a contact with another Taiwanese man who tested positive for the disease
- a 32-year-old Filipino man who has recently visited Japan
- a 57-year-old Pinoy who has not travel history outside the Philippines
- an 86-year-old American national who has visited South Korea and the United States
According to the report, the DOH is now tracing the people that the coronavirus patients were in close contact with. It was on Sunday when the results of their test were obtained. Cooperation is sought by the health department from the people contacted by the surveillance teams.
