Influential jazz pianist McCoy Tyner died at the age of 81. The tragic news about Tyner’s passing was announced by his family.
In an announcement posted at Tyner’s Instagram account, his family said that it was “with heavy hearts” as they announced the passing of jazz legend, adding that his music and legacy “will continue to inspire fans and future talent for generations to come.”
His family also said that they’re grateful for his supporters’ thoughts and prayers during his difficult time. Also, his family respectfully requested that any inquiries will be directed to [email protected].
Blue Note Records label also expressed their sympathy to the late “titan”, saying that Tyner was “one of the greatest of all-time.”
