Italy closed all schools and universities as the COVID-19 battle intensified.
Italy closed all schools and universities in order to stop the spread of the 2019 novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the country.
This, as Italy has ordered schools and universities to close until March 15, ramping up its response as the COVID-19 death toll in the said country rose to 107.
Germany warned the COVID-19 outbreak had turned into a “global pandemic”. As of this writing, more than 90,000 people have been infected from the said virus, while around 3,200 have died worldwide, which already reached some 80 countries and territories across the globe.
The World Health Organization (WHO), so far, has stopped short of declaring a pandemic, but the fear of the spread of COVID-19 has prompted panic buying, hoarding, and theft along with warnings over shortages of protective gear.
Meanwhile, in Germany, health minister Jens Spahn used the term “global pandemic”, telling lawmakers that Germany has “not yet reached the peak of the outbreak”.
