Ireland Joins Italy in Countries Under Total Lockdown
IRELAND – The country is now one of the nations imposing a nation-wide lockdown due to the 2019 novel coronavirus.
Several countries were greatly hit by the 2019 novel coronavirus. One of them is Italy. It is one of the countries in the European nations to declare a total lockdown.
Italy’s lockdown came amid increasing cases and deaths due to coronavirus. Initially, Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Conte only imposed it to the Northern part of the country.
However, the COVID-19 cases continued to soar. It has already surpassed 15,000 and the death toll exceeded 1,000. Amid the increasing numbers, the Prime Minister declared that only essential shops like food stores and pharmacies may operate during the lockdown.
Aside from Italy, another country in the European nation is now under a lockdown – Ireland. Based on a report on New York Post, 43 cases of coronavirus were recorded in the country and one (1) patient died of the disease.
Prime Minister Leo Varadkar ordered for the closure of all schools, childcare facilities, colleges, and cultural institutions in the country. Based on the report, indoor gatherings of more than 100 people and outdoor activities or events gathering more than 500 people are now allowed as well.
“We have not witnessed a pandemic of this nature in living memory… This is unchartered territory… Acting together, as one nation, we can save many lives,” the Prime Minister said.

Just a quick inquiry. On the article – second to the last paragraph it says, “indoor gatherings of more than 100 people and outdoor activities or events gathering more than 500 people are now allowed as well.” Does the word ‘now allowed’ the right one or the ‘not allowed’ words rather make sense? Thank you.
