After leaving the showbiz industry, former daring actor Gino Antonio is living this life now.
Gino, Jack Badon in real life, was one of the popular “hubaderos” during the 1980s to 1990s era of daring films in the Philippines. Before becoming a model and an actor, he worked as a lifeguard.
His first movie break was Private Show with Jacklyn Jose and Leopoldo Salcedo back in 1984, He was 25 years old at that time. The said movie was directed by prominent director Chito Rono who used the alias Sixto Kayco. Gino also appeared in several popular movies during that era such as Sabik… Kasalanan Ba? (1986), Ginto Sa Putikan (1987), and Virginia P. (1989).
In 1988, he was nominated in Gawad Urian for the Best Actor award. The last movies that Gino did were Naglalayag and Liberated 2 back in 2004.
After several years of doing films, Gino Antonio decided to leave the entertainment industry. The former daring actor is now living in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental. There he tried another field of career.
Gino ventured into agricultural business. He tried to grow rice, fruits, and vegetables. Eventually, he tried tilapia breeding and that is where he really became successful. He is now the President of the Tilapia Association in Dumaguete.
Based on the article from GMA, Gino shared that there are still people who look down at him because of his past job as a daring actor. However, in spite of that and being away from the glitz and glamour of showbiz, he said that he is happy with his life now.
“Always do positive things kasi magreresulta talaga (ng maganda), you can feel that,” Gino Antonio said.
