Facebook recently tweeted that they will be banning advertisements and commerce listings selling medical face masks through its platform.
This, after Facebook previously announced that it would limit the spread of misinformation about the 2019 novel coronavirus or COVID-19.
Rob Leathern, Team Leader of Facebook’s ads and business products, tweeted that Facebook has already monitoring COVID-19 closely and “will make necessary updates to our policies if we see people trying to exploit this public health emergency.”

Also, Instagram has started to follow Facebook’s steps and starting to remove “known harmful misinformation related to COVID-19”, adding that hashtags related to coronavirus or COVID-19 will redirect and show users resources from the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
