BSP Governor will undergo testing for coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas — BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno on Friday said that he would undergo testing for coronavirus disease or COVID-19.

This, as BSP Governor Benjamin Diokno said in a text message that he would decide by Monday, March 16, if he could attend the Monetary Board meeting in person next week. Diokno also said that he would go on a self-quarantine after attending an event with an infected person who tested positive for COVID-19.

Also, the headquarters of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas was also closed starting Friday for disinfection. When asked about his assessment on the impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy, Diokno said that the priority of the BSP was “to slow down the nasty coronavirus”.

Diokno added that the negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic will be minimal if the community quarantine works, otherwise, the negative impact will be huge.
