Actress Angelika Dela Cruz received criticisms because of her “tulong” as a Barangay Captain amid the COVID-19 outbreak in the Philippines.

Angelika is one of the celebrities in the Philippines who holds a position in the government. As a chairman of barangay Longos in Malabon City, the character actress also extended help to her constituents amid the enhanced community quarantine in the whole Luzon region.

Angelika’s younger sister Mika Dela Cruz also gave face shields to nurses, military personnel, security guards and employees at a fast-food chain.

On the Instagram post of Angelika, she also shared how proud she is for what her younger sister did in order to help the frontliners. The actress also shared a photo of the relief goods for her constituents.

However, based on the article by Rey Pumaloy in Abante, the actress/Brgy. Captain received criticisms for what was included in the relief goods.

According to Pumaloy, some complained that the loot bags that Angelika Dela Cruz were giving just contained rice, two cans of sardines and one pack of pancit canton. The entertainment columnist said that the barangay might have a limited budget and just dependent on what the mayor will provide.

Meanwhile, Angelika started her vlog called ‘Kapitan Duties Vlog’ and her first entry is about the effort they did for the barangay amid the COVID-19 crisis. She wrote this in the caption: “Please watch and share my Kapitana Duties Vlog . Lahat po ng kikitain nito ay ipangbibili po namin ng relief goods para sa mga taga Barangay Longos Malabon City.”
