Afghanistan reported its first fatality due to coronavirus disease.

Afghanistan reported its first fatality due to coronavirus disease as the 40-year-old victim died in Balkh province from complications due to COVID-19.

This, as Khaliullah Hekmati, the health director for Balkh province, told AFP that a 40-year-old victim had suffered other health problems, including his liver and kidney, adding that the victim was brought to a hospital on Wednesday but wasn’t quarantined inside the hospital.

Hekmati also said that a 40-year-old victim died on Friday, yet his test result came out Sunday (Monday in the Philippines), adding that he had not returned from Iran.

So far, Afghan health officials reported 34 cases of the coronavirus disease or COVID-19, including 10 new cases. Two foreign diplomats were included in the new COVID-19 cases in Afghanistan
