World’s Biggest Phone Show Canceled Due To COVID-19 Concerns

Mobile World Congress, the world’s biggest phone show, has been canceled because of global concerns regarding COVID-19, according to a chief executive of GSMA.

This, as GSMA CEO John Hoffman on Wednesday (Thursday in the Philippines) released a statement, announcing the cancellation of this year’s Mobile World Congress due to the COVID-19 outbreak.

In a statement, John Hoffman, the chief executive of GSMA, said that the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus, now named COVID-19, has made it “impossible” to hold this year’s MWC as it was already scheduled from February 24-27 in Barcelona, Spain.

Following the announcement, smartphone manufacturers, including Huawei and realme, will reschedule its smartphone launch.
