Qualcomm officially introduced its third-generation 5G modem, the Snapdragon X60.
Qualcomm announced its third-generation 5G modem, the Snapdragon X60, and claimed as “the world’s most advanced 5G modem-RF system”.
This, as smartphone companies were working towards introducing their first 5G phones in the Philippines and in other countries.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon X60 5G modem was using a 5nm process that would give up to 7.5Gbps download and 3Gbps upload speeds, along with support for both mmWave and sub-6Ghz 5G networks. This modem comes with Qualcomm’s dynamic spectrum sharing (DSS) that allows for repurposing LTE bands for better network speeds and to accelerate 5G deployment as well.
Aside from Snapdragon X60, Qualcomm also introduced Qualcomm’s QTM535 mmWave antenna module that has a smaller footprint compared to previous antenna modules.
Moreover, the innovative system integration from the baseband to the antenna, according to Qualcomm, would help Snapdragon X60 to “achieve superior performance and power efficiency while helping OEMs accelerate time-to-launch,” thus, “fewer hurdles to delivering leading-edge 5G smartphones with multi-gigabit speeds, low latency, and global scale, to end-users.”
