President Rodrigo Duterte was for the termination of the country’s Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA) with the US, according to his spokesperson on Monday.
This, after Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana said that there were no formal orders to do so.
According to Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo, President Rodrigo Duterte will order the cancellation of the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA), yet he has to relay the instructions to other members of the Cabinet. He added that Duterte’s position was what’s important, which means, he will really have it terminated.
Presidential Spokesman Salvador Panelo issued a statement following Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana’s statement, saying that there was no order yet to terminate the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). Panelo said that he sought clarification from Lorenzana.
