An elderly street vendor turns emotional and burst into tears after the members of the clearing-operation team confiscated her cart.
Over the past few months, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno is implementing stricter rules and regulations throughout the National Capital Region. Moreno imposed road clearing operations with the aim to remove illegal street vendors along the street.
The city mayor wants to removed road obstructions and illegal street vendors to reduce the worsening traffic problems in the Philippines. The move also aims to give a more convenient road for both motorists and pedestrians.
However, the government personnel in-charge of clearing are instructed to implement the policy with love, respect, and consideration towards others.
Recently, the Facebook page “GMA News” has shared the photos of an elderly street vendor crying after the members of the clearing-operation team confiscated the cart she used to sell her products.
In the photos, it can be seen that the old lady turns emotional after the clearing team seized her cart in Manila on Wednesday (February 19, 2020). The photos garnered various reactions online.
Interior Secretary Eduardo Año ordered all the local government units to remove any form of obstruction from public roads as well as clearing the sidewalks from street vendors.
