5 Countries Did Not Allow Cruise Ship Carrying 2000+ Passengers & Crew To Dock
CRUISE SHIP – Five (5) countries rejected the docking of a vessel carrying more than 2,000 passengers and crew members.
Amid the coronavirus scare, a lot of countries are tightly guarding the point of entries to their place. It is in line with the pursuit to curb the spread of the virus and to ensure the safety of the citizens.
The novel coronavirus, a newly-discovered strain of coronavirus, was initially recorded in Wuhan City in China. It is believed to have stemmed from bats through the bat soup served in the market in Wuhan.
The said viral disease that bears symptoms including fever, cough, shortness of breath, and diarrhea has infected more than 40,000 people in China. The death toll has also exceeded 1,000.
In Japan, a cruise ship was placed under a lock-down after one of its passengers tested positive for coronavirus. It was placed under quarantine for 14 days and more than 60 people tested positive for nCoV.
Amid the coronavirus scare, based on a report on ABS-CBN, five (5) countries have rejected the docking of a Holland America Line cruise ship. It’s caryying more than 2,000 people.
The countries that did not allow the vessel to dock in their area over the fear that a passenger may be infected by coronavirus are Japan, Philippines, Guam, Taiwan, and Thailand. The vessel came from Hong Kong last February 1 according to the report.
Cambodia allowed the cruise ship to dock in their place. Speaking to Kyoto News, an official of the Cambodian government that the decision was based on humanitarian grounds.
Aside from docking in Cambodia, the government also allowed the guests to go ashore. The company behind the vessel is very grateful over the support of the Cambodian government.
