COVID-19 UPDATE — The death toll in China from the outbreak of the 2019 novel coronavirus rose by 109, according to the National Health Commission.
This, as the total number of fatalities to 2,345 due to the COVID-19 outbreak in China. In addition, another 397 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 were reported nationwide, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to over 76,000.
The drop in new cases of the 2019 novel coronavirus, named COVID-19, came as officials in Hubei were ordered to revise figures in order to clear “doubts” around the data. According to the National Health Commission on Saturday, the number of confirmed cases nationwide for February 19 was “revised up to 820 up from 394 previously reported,” adding that it was also adjusted upwards to the total confirmed cases for February 20 by over 400 cases to 75,891.
The decision to amen past data in Hubei was the latest in a string of changes made to Hubei’s counting method.
