Pumpboat in Boracay Capsizes on Its Way To Station 1

PUMPBOAT – A water vessel carrying more than 25 people capsized in Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan.

One of the most popular vacation spots in the Philippines is Boracay Island in Malay, Aklan. This beach tourist spot does not only gather Filipinos but as well as foreigners visiting the country.

In Boracay, there are a lot of activities that you can do including island hopping. There is also the so-called night life party at the beach which many people really enjoy.

However, recently, an unfortunate incident took place in Boracay Island. A water vessel unexpectedly capsized.

Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a pumpboat capsized while on its way back to Station 1 in Boracay Island. Aboard the water vessel are more than 25 people including the three (3) crews.

According to the Philippine Coast Guard-Aklan Station Lieutenant Commander Marlowe Acevedo, the boat was out for an island hopping. However, strong winds and a huge wave struck it which caused panic on the passengers.

“Nag-panic ang mga pasahero. Pumunta sila sa one side ng bangka kaya ito tumaob,” he said based on the report.

A 45-year-old Chinese tourist was rushed to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival. The three (3) other companions of the Chinese national were brought to a hospital in Kalibo and are currently treated.

The two (2) locals, twenty (20) other Chinese nationals, and three (3) crews aboard the pumpboat are safe. Currently, the investigation on the incident is still ongoing.
