Iraq Base Housing US Troops Targeted by 12+ Missiles From Iran

IRAN – The country fired more than twelve (12) missiles at an Iraq base housing troops from the United States (US).

Currently, there is an ongoing tension over the death of Iranian General Qasem Soleimani. He is the “godfather” of the proxy network of Tehran across the region.

Soleimani died at the event of an American drone strike which took place last week outside an airport in Baghdad. Iraqi top commander and Hashed al-Shaabi military network’s deputy head Abu Mahdi al-Muhandis also died.

Based on a report on The Washington Post, the strike was confirmed by the US officials and it ignited the anger of Iranian people. They wanted to avenge Soleimani’s death.

Soleimani was set to be buried in his hometown in Kerman. The burial proceedings were initially stopped after a lot of mourners died due to stampede.

The Iranian leaders called for revenge against the United States over the death of the Quds Force’s commander. Recently, Iran fired more than twelve (12) missiles at a base in Iraq which housed US troops.

According to the report, a US defense official said that ballistic missiles were sent out targeting the al-Asad air base in Western Iraq about midnight. US President Donald Trump is already aware of the attack.

According to White House Secretary Stephanie Grisham, the US President is on to monitoring the situation closely. Defense Secretary Mark T. Esper said that US troops in Iraq will not be withdrawed and Pres. Trump will not make a statement.
