A Philippine Navy officer made history as Captain Luzviminda Camacho was the first woman to become a Commodore. She was recently promoted as Commodore.

A Commodore was equivalent to Brigadier General or one-star rank in the Philippine Army, Philippine Air Force, and Philippine Marines Corps.

Aside from being promoted as Commodore, Luzviminda Camacho was the first female chief of her office, the first female officer to command a Philippine Navy ship, and the first female commander of peacekeepers that was sent by the Philippines to Haiti.
