James Bond Actress Claudine Auger, known for her role in James Bond’s Thunderball, died due to her long period of illness. She was 78 years old.
Claudine Auger started out as a model and became the first runner-up in Miss World way back 1958. Yet she rapidly developed her talent for acting, and landed roles including The Iron Mask.
She played a role as Domino in a 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball. She was the first female co-star to the James Bond character, which was known as a Bond Girl.
Bond Girls were rarely given recognition for their acting talents in James Bond movies. However, Claudine approached the role as she would if she was Molière at a prestigious theater.
According to Claudine Auger, it was “a game, the same thing“.
After the 1965 James Bond movie Thunderball, she went on to have a successful career in French and Italian cinemas from the late 1960s to 1970s.
