COMELEC and Rappler will officially ink a partnership for the 2022 elections.
COMELEC — The Commission on Elections and Rappler will officially sign a partnership on voter engagement and fighting disinformation in relation to 2022 elections in a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing ceremony.
COMELEC Spokesperson James Jimenez said that the poll body believes that clean, honest, credible, and transparent elections require the assistance and vigilance of valuable partners.
According to Jimenez, they’re always open to pursuing partnerships with private organizations that will help provide truthful information to the public and promote accountability and transparency in the electoral process.
Under the partnership agreement, Rappler commits its resources to help the poll body disseminate helpful information and to engage the public both offline and online.
Rappler’s awareness-building efforts would include providing shareable infographics, engaging content, and educational videos.
In addition, Rappler will work with the poll body for the necessary information and action in order to enable a broader response on responding to common complaints on election day.
An online show, workshops, podcast, and seminars are also in the pipeline as well. Once the Post Finder and Precinct Finder are activated, they will also be made available on Rappler’s website.

The said move will make those services more mobile-responsive and will provide voters easy access to important information, especially on election day.
“Access to information is critical. It is just as critical that we immediately quash false, misleading, and harmful election-related information on social media,” Jimenez said. “To help us on this front, Rappler has further committed to mobilize its network of fact-checkers.“
The in-person MOA signing ceremony will be held on February 24, 10:00 A.M. at the COMELEC Session Hall in Palacio del Gobernador, Intramuros, Manila.
