Violators Of Curfew Will ‘No Longer Be Apprehended’, Says PNP

Curfew violators will no longer be held in custody, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP).

Curfew violators during the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine imposed by the local government units (LGUs) will no longer be held in custody, according to the Philippine National Police (PNP) on Saturday.

This, as Police Lieutenant General Guillermo Eleazar, the deputy chief for operations of the Philippine National Police, said that the PNP agreed with the recommendation of the Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary not to apprehend those who violated the curfew. Yet violators, however, will be facing fines and penalties after the Luzon-wide enhanced community quarantine.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Police was investigating reports of various physical punishments against curfew violators, adding that the PNP continually reminding commanders not to have physical punishments to those who violated the curfew.
