Harry Roque said that he will have a comprehensive checkup before deciding on his 2022 plans.
On Monday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that he will have a comprehensive checkup before deciding if he should run in the 2022 elections.
In an interview on Super Radyo dzBB, Roque said that he will have a thorough physical checkup before deciding if he should run in the 2022 elections by September.
“I had hopes once but I was not given the chance due to my medical condition,” Roque said, referring to himself filing a certificate of candidacy (COC) for the Senate last October 2018 for the May 2019 elections.
However, Roque ditched his bid last February 2019, citing his health condition, specifically “unstable angina coronary disease”.

Prior to this, Roque said in his regular press briefing last July 21 that he’s thankful for PDP-Laban for its confidence in him. However, he said that he would rather focus first on being a Malacañang spokesperson.
“Sa ngayon po nakatutok tayo sa ating katungkulan. Tayo po ay bumalik bilang spokesperson sa panahon ng pandemya dahil naniniwala tayo na kinakailangan ng paktwal at accurate ang mga information ng taumbayan sa panahon ng pandemya,” Roque said last July 21.
Back in October 2018, President Rodrigo Duterte said that Roque wouldn’t win in the 2019 Senate race.
“Si Roque gusto mag-senador. Bigyan kita ibang trabaho. Hindi ka manalo diyan,” President Duterte said at that time.
