Stand-up comedian Ate Gay was diagnosed with pneumonia.
ATE GAY PNEUMONIA — Stand-up comedian Ate Gay, whose real name was Gil Morales, had been diagnosed with pneumonia and admitted at the hospital since March 25, 2021.
GMA News Online reported that Mary Ann Morales, the younger sister of Ate Gay, confirmed the comedian’s condition through an online interview.
According to Mary Ann, the comedian was diagnosed with pneumonia that weakened his immune system but was doing better.
“Medyo nagre-react naman ang mga gamot sa katawan niya as of now. May development naman. Sana po tuloy tuloy. Kahit papaano nakakausap na siya, medyo lumalakas na po (ta’s) nakakatayo,” Mary Ann said.

In a photo posted on Ate Gay’s Facebook account last Sunday, the comedian was teary-eyed while lying on what looked like a hospital bed. The comedian then wrote three praying hand emojis and hearts.
Ate Gay’s family was asking for prayers from the comedian’s fans for his fast and continuous recovery.
Meanwhile, GMA News’ BaliTamBayan reported that Ate Gay was fed through a Nasogastric Feeding Tube (NFT) placed in his nose. In that way, food and medicine went straight to his intestines and didn’t pass through his lungs.
