The group leader says she hopes to return to theater — this time in a straight play — after sitting through the PETA media preview
QUEZON CITY (November 6, 2026) – BINI leader Jhoanna could not hold back her tears during the media preview of “The Art of Breaking Up” at the PETA Theater Center on Thursday, saying the play hit hard even though she has never been deeply in love.
Speaking after the show, Jhoanna said the music and the different faces of heartbreak landed on her anyway. “Sa mga napapanood ko sa ibang kakilala ko, personally wala pa ako experience deeply in love pero ang sakit, may music pa… First part, pinapakita ‘yung ibang ways ng breakup. Kahit anong gender, pare-pareho ‘yung pinagdadaanan,” she said.

“But for the second part, na highlight ‘yung importance of loving someone habang andiyan siya,” she added.
‘OK man kayo o hindi’
Jhoanna stressed that the story does not require a broken heart to land. “Naiyak ako not because nakakarelate ako, pero sobrang relatable niya. OK man kayo o hindi, makakarelate ka sa bawat scene,” she reasoned.
The BINI leader also opened up about missing the stage. She previously appeared in “Tabing Ilog the Musical” and now wants to try a straight play. “I missed it. This is something I want to try — a straight play. I want to know the feeling of doing a straight play,” she admitted. “But I want to do a workshop first.”
Month-long run
“The Art of Breaking Up,” based on George de Jesus III’s “Kung Paano Maghiwalay,” runs from November 6 to December 6 at the PETA Theater Center. Kapamilya artists including Jameson Blake, Brent Manalo, Kolette Madelo, Dingdong Bahan and Analain Salvador made their theater debuts in the same preview night.
For Jhoanna, the night was less about her own love life and more about how cleanly the play held up a mirror. Whether audiences walk in single, taken or somewhere in between, she said, there is a scene waiting for them.
