Ping Lacson Hopes Marcos Jr. To Remain Firm vs. Corruption: “The momentum was already on his side with his famous ‘Mahiya naman kayo’ SONA remark”

Sen. Ping Lacson Speaks on Marcos Jr. Administration’s Fight vs. Corruption in PH Gov’t

PING LACSON – The Senate President Pro Tempore expressed his hope that Pres. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. will remain firm in his fight versus corruption.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously vowed to bring the flood control issue to conclusion citing that he was the one who opened it up. The Chief Executive also warned those who will help the individuals with a pending arrest warrant over the flood control mess that they will be held accountable under the law.

Amid the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippine government, Marcos Jr. ordered the creation of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI to lead the probe. The commission led by former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. has invited several congressmen, senators, and officials of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) who were tagged in the flood control mess.

The supposed multi-billion flood control corruption has triggered a call for accountability through the “Trillion Peso March” that gathered thousands of Filipinos twice last year. Amid the flood control investigation, arrest warrants were released against several individuals including the following:

  • Gene Ryan Altea, DPWH Assistant Regional Director
  • Ruben D.S. Santos, DPWH Assistant Regional Director
  • Dominic Serrano, DPWH Chief, Construction Division; Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) Chairperson
  • Juliet Calvo, DPWH Chief, Maintenance Division 
  • Dennis Abagon, DPWH OIC-Chief, Quality Assurance and Hydrology Division; Regular Member, BAC
  • Montrexis Tamayo, DPWH OIC-Chief, Planning and Design Division
  • Lerma Cayco, DPWH Accountant IV
  • Felisardo Casuno, DPWH Project Engineer 3
  • Timojen Sacar, DPWH Material Engineer
  • Aderman Alcazar, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sunwest Construction
  • Cesar Buenavntura,Treasurer and Member of the Board of Directors, Sunwest Construction
  • Consuelo Aldon, Member of the Board of Directors, Sunwest Construction

Pres. Bongbong Marcos previously thanked the Filipinos for their patience towards the investigation. He stressed that he wants solid cases against the culprits of the flood control mess to ensure conviction.

“Asahan po ninyo na wala pong tigil itong aming ginagawa. At kahit na parang napakatagal ang dumaan na panahon, ako’y nagpapasalamat sa pasensiya ng ating mga kababayan,” Marcos Jr. said.

Recently, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson spoke on the fight of the Marcos Jr. administration against corruption. The upper chamber had a shakeup after some senators were tagged in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country.

Based on a report on PhilStar, Senate President Pro Tempore Ping Lacson expressed his hope that Pres. Bongbong Marcos remain firm in the fight against corruption in the country.

“I hope the President will not waver in his remaining years in office. I thought the momentum was already on his side with his famous ‘Mahiya naman kayo’ SONA remark,” Lacson said.

Amid the low trust rating of Pres. Bongbong Marcos which was at -3 based on the latest survey, Sen. Ping Lacson claimed that the perception of the Filipino people towards the President has not been kind as allegedly shown in the surveys. Based on the report, the Senator is looking forward to a more intensified crackdown of corruption in 2026 and helping the Marcos Jr. admin.

Previously, the Presidential Communications Office or PCO expressed its belief that the Marcos Jr. admin is nearing the endgame in the fight against the flood control corruption in the country.
