Each Regions in PH Poised To Get Share from Proposed DPWH Budget for 2026
DPWH BUDGET – The proposed budget pf the Department of Public Works and Highways for 2026 includes the P2.4 billion allocation for the flood control-related projects.
Several officials of the DPWH were accused of involvement in the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the Philippines. The issue left countless Filipinos frustrated and calling for accountability. It even triggered nationwide protests.

Two (2) rallies called the “Trillion Peso March” were held last September and November as the Filipinos called for an end to corruption in the country. Amid the holiday season, the Palace previously vowed that the flood control investigation does not end by December 25, 2025. Malacañang also claimed that it was allegedly a working Christmas holiday for President Bongbong Marcos as he reviewed the proposed budget for next year.

The proposed P6.793 trillion national fund for 2026 includes the proposed DPWH budget amounting to P529 billion. Public Works chief Vince Dizon previously confirmed that the approved budget for the department in 2026 is 40% lower compared to their proposed fund for next year. Meanwhile, he assured that the budget will be used right. He thanked the bicameral conference committee as he recognized the efforts of the lawmakers in the budget process.

Based on a report on GMA News, the proposed DPWH budget for 2026 includes the P2.49 billion allocation for the flood control-related projects. Each of the 18 regions in the Philippines including the National Capital Region (NCR), the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), and the Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) are poised to get P100 million worth of flood control-related allocation each for 2026.
With regards to the nationwide flood control-related projects, based on the report, P690 million is proposed to be allotted for those projects. Based on the report, here are the proposed nationwide flood control-related projects cited as part of the proposed DPWH budget for 2026:
- CAMANAVA / Valenzuela-Obando-Meycauayan flood control structures worth P50 million
- Agno flood control structures worth P50 million
- Lower Agusan flood control structures worth P50 million
- Flood Control and Sabo Engineering Center worth P10 million
- Post-Ondoy and Pepeng Short Term Infrastructure Rehabilitation Project (POPSTIRP) structures worth P30 million
- Esteros Improvement/ Maintenance in NCR worth P50 million
- Manggahan flood control structures worth P50 million
- Manila Bay Rehabilitation based on Supreme Court Mandamus order worth P30 million
- Iloilo flood control structures worth P50 million
- Pampanga Delta Development Project structures worth P30,000,000 million
- Laoag River Basin flood control structures worth P50 million
- Flood Risk Management Project Structures for Cagayan River, Tagoloan River, and Imus River worth P30 million
- Pinatubo Hazard Urgent Mitigation Project (PHUMP) Structures worth P30 million
- Desilting, Dredging, and Cleaning of Waterways worth P100 million
- Pasig-Marikina River Channel Improvement Project structures worth P50 million
- Third River flood control structures worth P30 million
Based on the report, the proposed DPWH budget for 2026 does not include funding for new flood control projects amid the ongoing investigation of the supposed flood control corruption. Previously, amid the issue, DPWH Sec. Vince Dizon was asked if he will run for a position in the government in the 2028 Elections.
