Rebond Request Ends in Tragedy: Cebu Wife Fatally Stabs Husband

Cebu Husband Killed After Heated Rebond Argument Turns Violent

CEBU – A simple request for a hair rebond in Cebu escalated into a deadly argument that ended with a husband being fatally stabbed by his wife.

A domestic dispute in Barangay Lawis, Cebu City, turned deadly after a husband, known by the alias “Buti,” was fatally stabbed by his wife during an argument that spiraled out of control. The incident, reported by Bombo Radyo, has shocked residents who described the couple as typically quiet despite occasional disagreements.

According to authorities, the confrontation began when the wife, identified as “Mamay,” told her husband she wanted to undergo a hair rebond treatment. Buti reportedly refused, explaining that they did not have spare money for the salon service. What started as a simple disagreement quickly intensified as the couple exchanged heated words inside their home.

Police said that during the escalating quarrel, Mamay allegedly grabbed a sharp object and stabbed her husband in the stomach. Alarmed neighbors heard the commotion and rushed to help after realizing the gravity of the situation. They immediately took Buti to the nearest hospital in hopes of saving his life. Despite efforts from medical staff, he later died from a single stab wound.

Officials noted that Mamay showed visible remorse after the incident. While being taken into police custody, she told investigators she deeply regretted what happened and did not expect the argument to end in tragedy. Authorities confirmed that she will face appropriate charges related to the killing.

Residents of Barangay Lawis expressed disbelief at the sudden, violent turn of events. While the couple had minor disagreements in the past, neighbors said none were severe enough to suggest such a dire outcome. Many in the community were left stunned that a quarrel triggered by a request for a hair treatment could escalate into a fatal confrontation.

Police emphasized the importance of seeking help during intense disputes, especially when emotions run high. They noted that domestic conflicts often stem from financial pressures or unresolved issues, and without proper intervention, these disagreements can turn violent. Authorities are urging couples to find peaceful ways to address conflicts and to reach out to barangay officials, crisis centers, or trained counselors when tensions begin to rise.

The tragic incident serves as a painful reminder of how quickly domestic disputes can escalate and the devastating consequences that can follow when anger overtakes reason.
