Recently, the Presidential Communications Office or PCO claimed that the Marcos Jr. government is allegedly “nearing the endgame” in the fight against flood control corruption. According to PCO Secretary Dave Gomez, they are seeing progress in all three (3) areas which are as follows:

  • holding of corrupt officials for accountability
  • the recovery of the unlawfully acquired wealth
  • implementation of reforms in the government systems

Amid the supposed massive flood control corruption in the Philippines, Pres. Bongbong Marcos ordered the creation of an independent body that will probe the issue. The executive order led for the Independent Commission for Infrastructure or ICI to be formed.

The ICI is a three-member body led by former Justice Andres Reyes Jr. It has already invited several government officials who were tagged in the flood control mess. The commission has also submitted a recommendation for the filing of charges against some individuals tagged in the issue.

Recently, Pres. Bongbong Marcos spoke anew on the Philippine government’s fight against corruption. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, the Chief Executive admitted that now is a difficult time and claimed that he really knew that the matter would be “disruptive”.

“The truth of the matter is it really has been a difficult time because I knew what we were starting would really be disruptive… What we are trying will precisely change the system. When you have to excise a cancer out of such a complicated system, you need to do major surgery, and when you do that, you will bleed and that is what we have to go through,” the President said.

Pres. Bongbong Marcos further claimed that the Filipino people have “to go through the pain” of what is happening now which he called as a “difficult anguish” but he believes that the Philippines will recover very quickly. Based on the report, the Chief Executive is confident that the Philippine government knows what to do.

”We know what we are going to do… and we will continue this campaign against corruption. We will continue our campaign on this abuse, on this entitlement… that has shocked everyone, myself included,” Marcos Jr. said.

Recently, the PCO reiterated that Pres. Bongbong Marcos vowed that a “big fish” is one of those who will be jailed soon due to the alleged flood control corruption. The Chief Executive claimed that more individuals who will be found guilty of the flood control anomalies will be behind the bars before Christmas day.
