2024 SALN of Marcos Jr. Released to the Public amid Corruption Issues in PH
MARCOS JR. – The latest Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) of the President showed that his wealth increased by over 1,600% from 2005 to 2024.
The Akbayan Party-list previously requested for the release of the copies of the SALN of Pres. Bongbong Marcos and Vice Pres. Sara Duterte. The request came after all the senators publicly disclosed their SALNs upon the request of Ombudsman Boying Remulla.

The Ombudsman immediately lifted the restrictions on the public access to the SALNs that are within its repository when he assumed office. Remulla succeeded retired former Ombudsman Samuel Martires who placed restrictions on the public access of the SALN of the government officials in 2020. Then, the consent of the owner of the document is needed.

Amid the corruption issues in the country, Malacañang previously claimed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is ready to show his SALN and undergo a lifestyle check. Then, several senators and congressmen were tagged into the supposed multi-billion flood control corruption in the country.
However, now, after Zaldy Co implicated Pres. Bongbong Marcos and former House Speaker Martin Romualdez in the corruption issues in the country, a copy of the SALN filed by Marcos Jr. last December 31, 2024 was released to the public.

Based on a report on GMA News, the SALN of Marcos Jr. showed an over 1,600% increase in his wealth from 2005 when he was still the governor of Ilocos Norte to 2024 that he is currently the President of the country. The Chief Executive’s net worth is at P1.375 billion as of December 2024.
In 2005, the net worth of the then-Ilocos Norte Governor was at P79 million. It rose to P120 million in 2007, his last year as governor in his hometown. After it, Marcos Jr. won as Ilocos Norte Congressman and registered a net worth of almost P180 million.
Based on the report, Pres. Bongbong Marcos’ net worth grew big in 2009 by over P135 million to more than P315.5 million after the Sandiganbayan ruled that a property in Cabuyao should be returned to his family. His share had greatly increased his wealth.
In 2010 Marcos Jr. was already a senator. His SALN showed that his net worth was at P311.5 million then. In 2012, his wealth grew to P437 million due to shares of stock, investments, and an art collection. Based on the report, when he won the presidency in 2022, he and his wife First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos’ net worth was over P908 million.

Aside from Marcos Jr. all 24 senators of the 20th Congress have also bared copies of their SALN to the public.
