Amid the Wrath of “Uwan”, Naga Mayor Leni Robredo’s Office Becomes Temporary Shelter for Typhoon Victims

Naga Mayor Leni Robredo’s office became the temporary evacuation facility for some of the victims of Typhoon Uwan.

“Uwan” has downgraded from being a super typhoon into typhoon amid its weakened intensity according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA). The typhoon brought heavy rains that triggered flooding in several areas in Luzon and Visayas. The country is currently under a state of national calamity.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. declared a national state of calamity following the wrath of typhoon “Tino” and the expected entry of “Uwan” to the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR). The latter was forecasted to become a super typhoon and the President assured that all government agencies are under a “full alert” status.

The national state of calamity declaration was proposed by the National Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council or NDRRMC. According to PAGASA, the following areas remain under signal no. 4 amid the wrath of Typhoon Uwan in the country now:

  • the southwestern portion of Isabela (Cordon, City of Santiago, Echague, Jones, San Agustin, San Guillermo, San Isidro, Alicia, Angadanan, Ramon, San Mateo, City of Cauayan, Benito Soliven, Naguilian, Reina Mercedes, Luna, Cabatuan, Aurora, San Manuel, Roxas, Mallig, Quirino, Burgos, Gamu, Quezon)
  • Quirino
  • Nueva Vizcaya
  • the southern portion of Kalinga (City of Tabuk, Tanudan, Tinglayan, Pasil, Lubuagan)
  • Mountain Province
  • the southern portion of Abra (Tubo, Luba, Boliney, Villaviciosa, Pilar, Daguioman, Bucloc, Manabo, San Isidro, San Quintin, Pidigan)
  • Ifugao
  • Benguet
  • the central and southern portions of Ilocos Sur (Narvacan, Nagbukel, Santa Maria, Burgos, San Esteban, Santiago, Banayoyo, Lidlidda, San Emilio, Quirino, Cervantes, Gregorio del Pilar, Sigay, Suyo, Alilem, Salcedo, Galimuyod, City of Candon, Santa Lucia, Santa Cruz, Tagudin, Sugpon)
  • La Union

Thousands of Filipinos in the different areas in the Philippines were evacuated prior to the onslaught of Typhoon Uwan for their safety. Naga City which is led by Mayor Leni Robredo is one of the cities affected by the former super typhoon.

Amid many posts on social media bearing expressions of gratitude for the nature, Storm Chaser claimed that Sierra Madre allegedly did not stop the wrath of Typhoon Uwan.
