How Vice Ganda’s Fear of Poverty Turned Him Into a Millionaire
VICE GANDA – Comedian and “It’s Showtime” host Vice Ganda has finally revealed the key to his financial success — and it’s surprisingly simple yet deeply relatable.
Vice Ganda has opened up about his approach to money management, revealing that financial discipline has been a lifelong habit. Despite his success and fame, Vice remains grounded when it comes to handling his finances, guided by a principle he has followed since childhood — live within your means and always save for the future.
For the “Unkabogable Superstar,” saving money is not just a suggestion but a mindset deeply rooted in his upbringing. In an interview with ABS-CBN News, Vice shared, “Hindi talaga ako magastos kaya ako nakakaipon. ‘Yung pamilya ko, hindi rin magastos.” He added that his financial discipline started early in life, recalling how he and his siblings learned to budget from a young age.

“Ever since kasi ‘yun na ang discipline sa amin. ‘Yung allowance namin, ‘yun na ‘yung allowance namin for the entire month. Kailangang ma-budget namin ‘yung kanya-kanya naming allowance,” he said, highlighting how financial responsibility was instilled in him early on.
Vice admitted that his motivation for saving comes from a deep-seated fear of financial instability. “So nung kumikita na ako, sobrang tipid ko kaya ako nakaipon. Takot na takot kasi akong maghirap. So kung gumastos man ako ngayon, hindi siya malaking epekto sa savings ko,” he explained.
While the comedian occasionally indulges himself, he ensures that his spending never compromises his savings. Sharing a humorous story, he said, “Nag-Singapore ako… last minute, bili ako nang bili. Sabi nila, ‘Grabe. Sa isang araw, magkano ‘yung nagastos mo.’ Sabi ko, napagod naman ako ng isang linggo.”

Vice Ganda, who now earns “more than enough,” clarified that his spending habits are guided by gratitude rather than extravagance. “Ang suwerte ko. I am earning more than enough. Kaya kong gumastos,” he humbly remarked.
Through his story, Vice continues to inspire fans and friends to develop good financial habits, emphasizing that true wealth lies not just in how much one earns but in how wisely one saves.
