The flood control mess in the Philippines disappointed countless Filipinos including Pres. Bongbong Marcos. Both the Senate and the House of Representatives opened investigations on the issue. They invited the contractors flagged by the President.

According to Pres. Bongbong Marcos, the country has spent P545-billion for the flood control projects from July 2022 to May 2025. He admitted that he considers it an “enormous” spending. Several areas in the country are still prone to flood when heavy rains hit them.

According to the President, there are 15 contractors which got around P100 billion from the total P545 billion spent on government flood control deals since the start of his term until May 2025. He flagged the following:
- Legacy Construction Corporation
- Alpha & Omega Gen. Contractor & Development Corp.
- St. Timothy Construction Corporation
- QM Builders
- EGB Construction Corporation
- Topnotch Catalyst Builders Inc.
- Centerways Construction and Development Inc.

Both the House and the Senate invited the contractors flagged by Pres. Bongbong Marcos. During one of the Senate flood hearings, controversial contractors Curlee and Sarah Discaya name-dropped the government officials who allegedly receive kickback from the government flood control deals. They claimed that they allegedly gave kickback to the following:
- Former House Speaker and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez

Amid the flood control corruption accusation, presidential cousin and Leyte Rep. Martin Romualdez resigned from his position as House speaker. During a House probe, one of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) engineers accused of involvement in the flood control scam also threw allegations against senators Jinggoy Estrada and Joel Villanueva.
Recently, amid the flood control mess in the country now, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson aired an advice for the students in pushing for the corrupt government officials to resign from their position. Based on a post of Cinema Bravo, Singson advised the high school and college students to boycott their classes until all corrupt officials in the government step down.

During the press con, former Ilocos Sur Gov. Chavit Singson claimed that the corrupt government officials should step down from office if they pity the students. According to him, the corrupt officials should vacate their positions the soonest possible time so the students won’t suffer.
“Huwag silang pumasok hangga’t hindi bumababa ang mga opisyal natin na korap. Kung maaawa sila sa mga estudyante, mga kabataan dahil ipinaglalaban nila ang karapatan nila, kasalanan nila. Para di mahirapan ang mga kabataan, ang mga estudyante, umalis na sila diyan, the soonest possible time,” Singson said.
Protest actions against corruption are set in the different areas across the nation tomorrow, September 21. Amid the preparations, Pres. Bongbong Marcos claimed that he would join the street protests if he is not the president. Malacañang also claimed that Marcos Jr. is not worried over the upcoming protest actions.
