Expenses of Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s Office on Local and Foreign Trips of Personnel Unveiled
SARA DUTERTE’S OFFICE – The Office of the Vice President spent P20.68-million for the expenses of the OVP security and civilian personnel during local and foreign trips as of July 21 for 2025.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte who is set to visit Japan this month is criticized over her frequent overseas trips. The second-highest government official in the Philippines has been to several countries across the nation since the arrest of her father, former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte, last March 11.
The elder Duterte was brought to The Hague, Netherlands. He is currently under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) where he is faced with an accusation of crimes against humanity over the drug war of his administration.
Supposedly, the confirmation of charges of former Pres. Duterte is set on September 23 and the Vice President will fly to Japan prior to it. She is set to meet with the Duterte supporters there. However, ahead of the scheduled ICC hearing, it was confirmed that the confirmation of charges will be postponed.
Duterte’s lead counsel, British-Israeli lawyer Nicholas Kaufman, claimed that the former President is “not fit to stand trial”. Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte’s lawyer even hopes that the Marcos admin will allow the return of his client to PH. His family has yet to speak on the postponement of the confirmation of charges hearing.
Amid the criticisms against her, over her frequent overseas trips, Vice pres. Sara Duterte previously claimed that the Filipino communities abroad are allegedly “frustrated” already so she usually travels abroad to meet them. According to her, they are allegedly filled with frustration over what is happening in the country now. Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office previously stressed that she spends her own money during her travels abroad.
Based on a recent post of Inquirer, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte’s office has spent P20.68-million on the local and foreign trips as of July 21 for 2025. The said amount was reportedly used to cover the expenses of the security and civilian personnel of the OVP during the local and foreign travels.
Vice Pres. Duterte is using her personal money for her and her family’s expenses during local and foreign travels as stated in the post. For the local trips, a total of P13.207 million was spent while total of P7.473-million was spent for the foreign travels.
