Vice Pres. Sara Duterte Confirms Gathering w/ Filipino Communities in Japan
SARA DUTERTE – The Vice President is set on another international trip to Japan prior to the International Criminal Court (ICC) hearing of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte.
Recently, the Duterte family had what was seemingly a reunion inside the ICC detention facility in The Hague, Netherlands after Vice Pres. Duterte, Davao 1st District Congressman Paolo Duterte, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte, and Kitty Duterte visited the former President altogether. It was the first time that it happened since his arrest in March.
The Duterte family members took turns visiting former Pres. Duterte inside the ICC detention center since the transfer of his custody to the foreign court in March. The former President is faced with an allegation of crimes against humanity for the drug war of his administration.
Former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte maintained that everything he did during his term as president was for the Filipino people and the country. According to Vice Pres. Sara Duterte, the last wish of former Pres. Rodrigo Duterte if he dies during his ICC detention is for his remains “to be cremated”. He only wants ashes to be brought home to the country.
The Vice President admitted that she and her father have different views as he is pro-cremation while she is not. According to her, she and her siblings have different reactions when their father will talk like that. She revealed that her brother, Congressman Pulong, and their youngest sister, Kitty, are emotional whenever their father will speak like that.
The confirmation of charges against former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte is set on September 23. Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte confirmed that she will be flying to Japan prior to the ICC hearing of her father to meet with the Filipino communities there.
Based on a report of ABS-CBN News, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte will attend the gathering organized by their Filipino supporters in Japan on September 20 and 21. The upcoming visit of the Vice President will be her third visit to the country this year.
“Yes, Japan will push through. It was already set by the Filipino community there,” the Vice President said.
Vice Pres. Sara Duterte revealed that the event with the Filipino community in Japan will be a “large gathering” organized by the Japan-based Duterte supporters who want to express their support to the former President amid his ICC legal battle. After her trip in Japan, she will return to The Hague, Netherlands for the confirmation of charges hearing of her father.
Recently, Vice Pres. Sara Duterte was also asked about her side on the controversial relief of former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III from his position. Torre was the lead implementer in the transfer of custody of her father to the ICC.
