Malacañang Confirms Former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III Being Offered New Post

Following Torre’s Relief as Chief PNP, Malacañang Issues Statement Anew

Malacañang confirmed that former PNP Chief Nicolas Torre III is offered new post following his relief from the lead of the national police.

The relief of Nicolas Torre III as the chief of the Philippine National Police was unexpected by many Filipinos. He had a very short stint as the PNP chief. It was only in May when Nicolas Torre III was appointed by President Bongbong Marcos to lead the PNP.

Torre’s promotion even elicited different reactions including criticisms. His appointment as the PNP chief did not sit well with many support of former Pres. Rodrigo Roa Duterte for the role he played during the arrest and the transfer of the custody of the former Chief Executive to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

The relief of Torre left many Filipinos questioning over what is happening. It was not stated in the letter that declared his relief why Marcos Jr. has decided to remove him from the PNP lead. The said letter issued by Malacañang was signed by Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin in behalf of the President.

Meanwhile, amid the silence of Torre then, Department of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jonvic Remulla held a press conference. The DILG Secretary clarified that Torre did not commit any violation of the law or was charged with a criminal or administrative case.

Furthermore, DILG Sec. Remulla said that the relief of PNP chief Nicolas Torre III was simply a decision of Pres. Bongbong Marcos to take the PNP to a new direction. The Interior Secretary also claimed that he got reports that Marcos Jr. is allegedly considering to offer Torre a new position in the government.

Countless Filipinos made guesses on which government position may be offered by Marcos Jr. to former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III. Recently, Malacañang broke its silence on the claim of Interior Sec. Jonvic Remulla.

Malacañang Claire Castro

Based on a report on GMA News, Malacañang press officer Atty. Claire Castro confirmed that Pres. Bongbong Marcos is indeed offering a new position in the government to former PNP chief Nicolas Torre III. However, the Palace official refused to divulge the specific position offered to the former PNP Chief.

“Confirm po na may inaalok na posisyon,” the Malacañang press official said.

Amid the relief of Torre as PNP chief, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte claimed that he really does not care about him. However, acting Davao Mayor Baste Duterte also made a claim that you allegedly cannot be a PNP chief without doing any nonsense against their family and their supporters. He believes that the next PNP Chief is supposedly ordered to target them.
